Why I Started Presents for Dad – And the Gift I Wish I’d Given

I’ll be the first to admit it — I’ve never been big on Father’s Day. Or Mother’s Day, really. I always thought those days were more about big shops creating a money spinner than creating genuinely important family moments.

So, on my husband’s first Father’s Day, we didn’t do much. I printed a lovely photo of him with our baby — it was sweet, meaningful, and… that was it.

At the time, it felt fine. We were deep in the baby bubble: sleep-deprived, juggling life, and just trying to make it through the day without losing the muslin cloth again. You know the drill.

But fast forward a few years — our daughter is now seven — and something shifted.

Suddenly, she was excited about Father’s Day. She wanted to plan a surprise, make cards, wrap something special. And it hit me: I wished I’d done more for that very first one. That first Father’s Day. Because that was the start of it all — his journey into fatherhood.

And while he probably didn’t mind at the time (he barely remembered to brush his teeth some days), looking back now, those baby days feel like a blur of cuddles, chaos, and fleeting magic. You never get that time back. But you can make sure it’s remembered.

That’s when the idea for Presents for Dad came to life.

🎁 From Missed Moments to Meaningful Gifts

I’ve always loved giving presents. Picking out something thoughtful, funny, or just right for someone lights me up. My friends often came to me asking, “What should I get for my partner/dad/brother-in-law who already owns every gadget ever made?”

So I thought — why not create a space where gift ideas for dads are curated by someone who gets it? Someone who knows that mums are already spinning a million plates and don’t need another task on their list. Especially when that task is labelled “Find something meaningful for a dad who says he doesn’t want anything.”

That’s why Presents for Dad isn’t just a store. It’s a shortcut for other mums. A thoughtful corner of the internet designed to take the stress out of gifting — and bring the smiles back in.

👕 Matching Outfits, Keepsakes, and Laughs

From matching baby-and-dad outfits to personalised keepsakes and funny T-shirts that channel full “dad joke energy,” I design each product with real families in mind.

This isn’t a mega retailer experience. I design everything myself, and my products are printed right here in the UK. If it doesn’t make me smile or say “awww,” it doesn’t go in the shop.

And while it may seem like a small thing — a funny T-shirt, a sweet onesie, a thoughtful gift — those are the things that show-up in photos, in memories, and in the little rituals our kids grow up remembering.

💪 To the Mums Who Are Doing It All…

This shop is for you, too. I see you balancing work, nursery runs, endless birthday parties, and trying to keep the house vaguely clean. I’m right there with you. That’s why I wanted Presents for Dad to be a space that makes life easier — not another thing on your to-do list.

Whether you’re planning your partner’s first Father’s Day or just looking for a gift that says, “You’re doing a great job, even if the baby just threw porridge at your face,” — I’ve got you covered.

Let’s make those milestones count. They really do fly by.
